On September 23, the 2023 Li Dehua-Luo Xiaowei Chair of Design Awarding Ceremony was successfully held in Wenyuan Building. Ms. Manuela Luca-Dazio, Executive Chairman of the Pritzker Architecture Prize delivered the academic speech. 2023 Pritzker Architecture Prize winner, David Chipperfield, serves as the chair of 2023 Li Dehua-Luo Xiaowei Design. Dean Li Xiangning, Vice Dean Yuan Feng, and Director of Department of Architecture Hu Rushan attended the meeting. More than three hundred students and faculty members attended the ceremony.

Dean Li Xiangning awarded Mr. Chipperfield with a certificate of the Chair of 2023 Li Dehua-Luo Xiaowei Design. Mr. Chipperfield was highly affirmed by his contribution to Architectural practice for the city of Shanghai. Afterwards, Mr. Chipperfield delivered an academic lecture entitled The Limits and Responsibilities of Practice.
DAVID CHIPPERFIELD'S 'LI DEHUA & LUO XIAOWEI CHAIR OF DESIGN' MASTER COURSE: JINGDEZHEN DONG SAN BAO URBAN RENEWAL
On September 23rd, Mr. Chipperfield also delivered a lecture to the first year graduate students participating in Li Dehua-Luo Xiaowei Chair of Design for this year. The topic of the class was the urban renewal of the East Sanbao area of Jingdezhen, China. Mr. Chipperfield shared his views on urban economic model, industrial heritage value, and urban renewal concepts with the students, encouraging them to focus on the appearance of the building, establish an overall cognitive framework of urban life and business patterns in order to make socially responsible designs.
