The International Symposium on Ecological Urban Design in 2015 focuses on the design of urban metabolism, a theoretical model of sustainable future urban system that is urgently needed for rapid urbanization processes in China and elsewhere around the world. The symposium is organized by the Sino-U.S. Eco Urban Lab, an international urban design research platform jointly developed by Tongji University and Georgia Institute of Technology. It gathers scholars, practitioners and policy makers from China, the U.S. and other countries to explore cutting-edge theory and prompting issues of ecological urban design, sustainable urban systems, resilient city, healthy city and smart urban infrastructure, as well as urban space utilization and urban space operations management.
