University of Melbourne Delegation Visits CAUP

On June 25, 2026, Professor Nicolas Phelps, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne, paid an official visit to CAUP. CAUP’s Vice Dean Chen Chen, together with a team of faculty and administrative staff including Department Heads, research center directors and international affairs personnel, received the delegation and held in-depth bilateral talks.
At the meeting, Vice Dean Chen extended a warm welcome to the guest, reviewed the long-standing cooperative ties between the two institutions, and expressed great anticipation for future collaborative development. Both sides conducted thorough discussions on key academic cooperation initiatives, including joint student training, collaborative design workshops, faculty research partnerships, and co-hosting international academic conferences.
Following the formal negotiation session, Professor Phelps held a special seminar for students scheduled to study at the University of Melbourne. He elaborated on the university’s curriculum structure, campus facilities and urban surroundings, and explained the differences between Chinese and overseas teaching cultures, offering practical guidance for students’ upcoming overseas adaptation.
Building on the solid existing cooperation foundation, the two universities will further expand collaboration areas and strengthen long-term, extensive academic partnerships to boost globalized architectural and urban planning education and research.
