Tongji University’s CAUP held the final review and exhibition of its 2026 spring Sensing Space graduate design studio at Jing’an’s Xintai Warehouse on June 11.
Under the Li Dehua-Luo Xiaowei Design Chair, the course was led by Snøhetta’s international team including chair professor Robert Greenwood, China director Gong Cheng and foundation executive Martin Gran. Students designed a mixed complex on Fuxing Island with a river museum, design school and social project tackling educational equity. Four themed schemes — Intertwining, Rhizome, Tower of Redredging and Portal — were presented, focusing on bodily spatial perception and local waterfront heritage. The exhibition closed at the warehouse on June 14 and will transfer to CAUP Building C basement.
Founded in 2016, the design chair invites world-leading architects to teach. This program further integrates global design practices with local architectural education, inheriting the cross-cultural academic spirit of Li Dehua and Luo Xiaowei.
