Introduction

To mark the completion of OMA’s Hangzhou Prism, Chris van Duijn presents OMA: Projects and Reflections in Asia, a talk that looks at a turning point in architecture today. The talk draws on recent OMA projects and experiences across China to examine how architectural practice is evolving in a shifting landscape. After decades of rapid urbanization driven by growth and real estate, China now faces a more complex future, where technological and demographic change challenge the permanence of the city and call for new approaches grounded in resilience and adaptation.
