Lecture Introduction
Spatial, territorial, land use, urban planning are the processes which require a lot of multidisciplinary data. Given modern computational and digitalization opportunities in handling big data, using this in planning routine remains a challenge. The presentation will focus on setting agenda for digital transformations in urban planning processes. Data needs, availability, sources, integration, processing, outcomes will be discussed. National spatial data systems, data verification, parametric modelling, form-based code, artificial intelligence, analytic and visualization tools will be highlighted. Perspectives and limitations of automatic digital planning will be discussed.
Lecturer
Nikolai Bobylev
Dr. Nikolai Bobylev is an environmental scientist working on underground space use, urbanization, sustainable development, urban infrastructure, environmental assessment, and multiple criteria decision analysis. Dr. Bobylev has published more than 80 research papers on environmental and urban development issues. Dr. Bobylev has received several prestigious research awards, including fellowships of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and Marie Curie of the European Community. Dr. Bobylev has been a consultant to United Nations Agencies (UNECE, UN Habitat, UNEP, UNDP). Urban underground space is Dr. Bobylev’s distinctive and unique field of research, he is the world leading (most cited) scientist in this field (based on Scopus data: published articles with a keyword “UUS” in the last 10 years Dr. Bobylev ranked 5th, in the last 5 years–1st). Dr. Bobylev’s H-index is 17 according to Scopus, which is excellent in comparison to emeritus peers in specific field. Most of Dr. Bobylev’s high impact publications are single authored, which reflects his advanced ability to put forward novel ideas. Dr. Bobylev’s most cited publication currently has more than 300 citations (Bobylev, N (2009) Mainstreaming Sustainable Development into a City’s Master Plan: a Case of Urban Underground Space Use (Land Use Policy).
