【Forum】 Introducing the 2026 Asian architecture forum and the evolution of Contemporary Indian Architecture

Abstract
This lecture focuses on the 2026 Asian Architecture Forum and the development of contemporary Indian architecture. The Asian Architecture Forum is a leading platform for ongoing discussions on cutting-edge architectural ideas relevant to Asia. Held once every two years, each edition reflects the spirit of the times and regional characteristics, addressing forefront issues in the Asian context and exploring new directions for the future of architecture in the region.
The lecture will begin with a welcome address by Vilas Vasant Avachat, President of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), who will introduce Vice President Tushar Sogani and the forum conveners. This will be followed by a detailed presentation by Tushar Sogani on the 2026 Forum to be held in India, including the program schedule, related competitions, and curated architectural tours across the country.
Tushar Sogani’s keynote “Learning, Un-Learning and Re-Learning: The Paradigm in Architecture” will explore architectural design philosophy, showcase his representative projects, and discuss trends in contemporary Indian architecture. The lecture will highlight how Indian architects respond to rapid urbanization, climate challenges, and cultural identity by integrating modern technologies, sustainable design, and local cultural expressions, reflecting the diversity and complexity of social, environmental, and regional contexts in India.
Tushar Sogani is a pioneer in high-rise and innovative residential architecture. His numerous green building projects are both energy-efficient and sustainable. He has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Indian Architect of the Year Award (conferred by former President Ramnath Ji Kovind), the CREDAI Emerging Architect of the Year Award, and the Green & Sustainable Building Practices Award.
