Research Profile:
QIAN Zonghao was born in Shanghai in December 1954. He received his B.A. from the Department of History at Fudan University in 1982, and Ph.D. from the Department of Architecture at Tongji University in 2005. He is currently Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Architecture at Tongji University. Before joining Tongji, he had worked at the Shanghai Cultural Heritage Management Committee, Shanghai Museum, and Shanghai History Museum. His teaching and research focus on Shanghai urban history, architectural history of modern China, architectural conservation, and architectural cultural study. His publication includes The Memory of Shanghai Nanjing Road, 1840-1950, A Century of Transformation in Architecture and Landscape on the Shanghai Bund, The Origin of Modern China: Record from an American Photographer, Reading Modern Architecture in Shanghai, "Town Planning of Early Shanghai, 1845-1864," "Shanghai Bund: The Most Famous International Public Space in East Asia," "A Description of the Municipal Administration of Ancient Shanghai," etc.
