Tongji University Shanghai and University of Hawaii at mānoa signed the agreement on carrying out the dual degree program between two schools in December 6, 2011. With the efforts from both sides, Tongji-UHM dual degree program has already been carried out for three years. The aim of the double degree program is to realize a platform for an integrated, international academic program in architecture studies.
Supported by Tongji-UHM program, students at the University of Hawaii will enjoy the opportunity to familiarize themselves first-hand with one of the most economically dynamic regions of the world. Conversely, students at the Tongji University Shanghai will have the chance to participate in Hawaii in academic projects designed to be interdisciplinary. Also, teachers from both sides are exchanged between Tongji University Shanghai and University of Hawaii on a semester basis.
The program is a 3-year system Program. Tongji Students stay in Shanghai for 2 years and stay in Hawaii for the 3rd year. Hawaii students will study in Hawaii for the 1st and 3rd year, and study in Tongji for the 2nd year. After successful completion of the complete program at both universities, the students receive the degrees of both universities, “Master of Architecture” of Tongji University and “Doctor of Architecture” of Hawaii.
