The University of North Carolina (UNC) system is known as the best public university system in America composed of 16 universities. University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) is the fourth largest university under the UNC system and the largest institution of higher education in the Charlotte region, which is the second largest banking center in the United States as well as one of the Best Places for Business and Careers named by Forbes. In 2009, the UNCC was rated one of the Top Ten National Up and Coming Universities by US News and World Report.
The School of Architecture (SoA) in UNCC provides intellectual, ethical, and innovative leadership in architecture and urban design through excellence in teaching, scholarly research, creative architectural practice, and community activism. Faculty and students SoA are committed to creating an open-minded and creative atmosphere to pursue research, explore new forms of building, and discover collaborative practices that nurture human potential. Graduate study in SoA includes not only on campus coursework, but also by travel and research opportunities.
This program opens to the students of Architecture major from Tongji University. Students engaged in this program would have their first and third year of master course study in Tongji University, inbetween which students spend 12 months abroad in UNCC. Students would graduate with both a Masters of Architecture from Tongji University, and a Masters of Urban Design from UNCC.
