He presided over 6 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 project and 2 sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program, 6 provincial and ministerial-level as well as international cooperation projects, and completed more than 50 enterprise-commissioned projects. He served as chief editor for more than 20 national, industrial, local and association standards, and contributed chapters on simulation technologies to internationally authoritative design handbooks. He published more than 150 academic papers, including over 100 in internationally authoritative journals such as Building and Environment, Building Simulation, Energy and Buildings, Journal of Building Engineering, Separation and Purification Technology, Sustainable Cities and Society, and Energy and Built Environment. He filed or been granted more than 80 invention patents, with 16 transferred and commercialized.
His research group has carried out extensive and in-depth scientific research cooperation with leading industrial enterprises including Haier Group, Midea Group, China National Chemical Engineering, Daikin Air Conditioning, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, China Railway Group, and China State Construction Group. His relevant research achievements have been widely recognized at home and abroad. They have been selected as one of the world’s "Top Ten Best Cases" in an internationally authoritative design handbook, listed as advanced technical equipment for engineering protection by the National Health Commission, and included in the Green Technology Catalogue of the Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission. He first proposed the theory and technical system of the "Organic Carbon Pump".

He has received numerous awards, including the First Prize of Hebei Provincial Technological Invention Award (2024), the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (2024), the Second Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award (2022), the Second Prize of Shandong Science and Technology Progress Award (2022), the First Prize of Hebei Science and Technology Progress Award (2021), the Second Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award (2020), and the First Prize of Creative Achievement Award of the China Creativity Society (2020); personally, he was awarded the “Elite of the Era” Award in China’s Rubber Machinery Industry (2020), the Individual Award for Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation of China (2019), the Young Scientist Award of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (2018), the Shanghai Rising Star of Science and Technology (2011), and the Tongji University Climbing Program for High-Level Talents (2010), and one of his projects was selected as one of the “Top 10 Scientific and Technological Achievements with the Most Transformation Potential” at Tongji University in 2025.
In recent years, he has supervised undergraduate students to win more than 30 awards, including one Second Prize in the National University Student Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Competition, one First Prize in the Shanghai University Student Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Competition, and one First Prize in the “Zhongchuang Cup” National Innovation Engineering Competition; for postgraduate education, he has established a training system featuring “foundation-building through norms, horizon-expanding, and personalized empowerment”, financially supporting each PhD student to attend international academic conferences overseas, supporting students to be seconded to Yangpu District for Party-building practice in line with their individual characteristics, recommending students to join the Tongji University “Young Reserve Talents” Program, collaborating with students to obtain approval for the “Tongji University Industrialization Innovation Verification Project” as the first author, and supervising students to win the “Nomination Award for Outstanding PhD Students at the 3rd International Academic Conference on Energy and Built Environment for Chinese Scholars” (only 3 recipients worldwide per session) and the “Special PhD Program of the Young Talent Support Project of the China Association for Science and Technology. He has also supervised postgraduate students to receive nearly 10 awards for outstanding doctoral and master’s theses at Tongji University, as well as more than 30 scholarships including 5 National Scholarships, and among his graduated PhD students, 4 have been awarded projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 have received support from the “Shanghai Super Postdoctoral” Program, and 1 has won the “Outstanding Young Scholar Award at the 4th International Academic Conference on Energy and Built Environment for Chinese Scholars” (only 3 recipients worldwide per session).
