On 31 December 2025, the graduate course Architectural Design III (English) under the Li Dehua Luo Xiaowei Design Chair held its year-end review and exhibition. The studio draws on the design methodology and professional practice of Morphosis, taking the Shanghai Poetry Art Museum as its design brief and focusing on the intersection of city, architecture, and art. Emphasizing design exploration within complex spatial contexts, the course showcased students' outcomes developed over 16 weeks of intensive study and studio work.

Final Review Session
Chair Professor Thom Mayne sent a warm-up video from Los Angeles. As a Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate and founder of Morphosis, he took poetry as a form of language to explore the relationships among language, artistic expression, and architectural visual form. Professor Mayne encouraged young architects to understand the world from a global perspective and expressed special thanks to alumna Ms. Xiaohan for her continued support of the Li Dehua & Luo Xiaowei Chair of Design.

During the final review, students presented comprehensive proposals for the Shanghai Poetry Art Museum. Discussions addressed architectural concepts, spatial strategies, urban integration, and public engagement, highlighting how design can respond to cultural programs and complex urban conditions.

The final review was chaired by Professor Liu Kan and Instructor Zhu Yichen. Professor Philip F Yuan, Vice Dean of the College, delivered opening remarks on behalf of the College and participated in the review. Ms. Xiaohan, an alumna and donor of Shanghai Huajie Ren'ai Foundation, attended the event as a special guest.
Invited critics included Zhu Peidong, co-founder of line+ studio; Jin Yini, Planning Director at East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd.; and Gao Weizhe, Partner and Director at Archi-Union Architects.

The student exhibition will remain on view until January 18, 2026, and is open to faculty and students of the university. Visitors are warmly welcomed to attend and engage in discussion.
