Lecturer & Introduction
Morphosis Architects is a global leader in architecture and design, dedicated to creating work that is visionary, pragmatic, and deeply powerful. Since its founding in 1972, the firm has operated at the intersection of architecture, urban planning, and design, delivering projects across civic, academic, cultural, commercial, residential, and mixed-use typologies, as well as large-scale master plans. Morphosis also engages in original publications, product design, and artistic exploration, advancing the discipline through multi-scalar and interdisciplinary practice.
Thom Mayne, the Founding Partner of Morphosis Architects, has led the firm’s interdisciplinary and collaborative approach for more than five decades. As one of the most influential architects of our time, Mayne received the 2005 Pritzker Architecture Prize and the 2013 AIA Gold Medal, and served on the U.S. President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities from 2009 to 2016. In 2025, he was appointed as the “Li Dehua – Luo Xiaowei Design Chair Professor” at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University, further extending his global impact in architectural education and practice.
