Chulalongkorn University Visits Tongji University’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning

Representatives from the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, recently visited the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) at Tongji University. The delegation from Chulalongkorn University’s Department of Housing was led by Associate Professor Yuwadee Siri and Dr. Phatsaphan Charnwasununth, accompanied by a team of members.

  

During the visit, Associate Professor LIU Kan, Vice Chair of the Department of Architecture and Head of the International Cooperation Department at Tongji University's CAUP, delivered a lecture titled “Shanghai: Cases and Explorations of Sustainable Urban Regeneration.” His presentation showcased a series of case studies focused on the urban development of Shanghai, emphasizing the balance between functional modernization, historical preservation, and long-term sustainability. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, during which Associate Professor LIU Kan responded to questions from students and discussed promising avenues for future academic collaboration between the two institutions.

  

Special appreciation goes to Associate Professor WANG Yi, Chair of the Department of Architecture at Tongji University, and Associate Professor HU Yanzhe, Vice Chair of the Department of Architecture, for their warm hospitality and support in fostering this academic exchange. Gratitude is also extended to Professor Jenchieh Hung and Professor Kulthida Songkittipakdee, both Tongji University’s visiting professors and Chulalongkorn University’s visiting professors, for their vital role in strengthening the partnership between the two universities. This visit marks another step toward deepening international academic ties and collaborative opportunities in architectural education and urban planning research.
