The On-going Urban Organic Regeneration in Shanghai
Abstract
As many Chinese mega-cities, the development and transformation of Shanghai are facing the changes from incremental mode to stock mode, the improvement of quality and efficiency of stock resources is the essential approach of urban development of Shanghai in the future. Aiming at the strategic objectives of an excellent global city, charming innovative city, humanism city, and ecological city that determined in the macro planning 2035, Shanghai is exploring an innovative mode featured by inverse growth and an organic urban regeneration path, which is a process of governance of fixing problems, of emphasizing historical humanism and ecological restoration, of regarding the urban quality and functional creation, and of concerning public participation and co-governance.
