Abstract
Patterns organise and transform architectural and urban form, from historical ornament across cultures and patterns books on contemporary figure-ground studies. Drawing on design studios, international workshops and professional practice, this lecture examines how generative AI recombines images, patterns, and references. It explores language as an instrument for design, and de-re-contextualisation as a creative opportunity and critical challenge in transforming AI-generated possibilities into urban systems.
