On April 24th, a 38-member delegation led by Dean JUNG Juchul from the College of Engineering at Pusan National University (PNU) in South Korea paid a visit to the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) at Tongji University, with the visit coordinated by Tongji's Office of International Affairs.
The delegation first toured Building D and Building A of CAUP. They received a warm welcome from the faculty and staff of CAUP. At the Academic Innovataion Base, Dean JUNG Juchul expressed admiration for the intelligent construction system independently developed by Tongji's research team and engaged in in-depth discussions with the researchers about the technical details of its application. Subsequently, the delegation proceeded to Building A, where they observed Tongji's practical cases in the restoration of historic districts and the digital preservation of cultural heritage. The delegation acknowledged that Tongji's expertise in architectural heritage conservation offers crucial insights for urban renewal across Asian cities. As the visit drew to a close, the delegation took a leisurely stroll around Tongji's campus, visiting iconic landmarks such as Huiwen Building, Zhonghe Building, and the National Pillar, immersing themselves in the cultural heritage and contemporary vibrancy of this century-old institution.
As member universities of the CAMPUS Asia (Collaborative Asia-Pacific Mobility Program in University Studies) initiative, Tongji University and Pusan National University have been fostering innovative talent cultivation in fields such as green architecture, urban planning, and smart construction through joint research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, summer courses, and international workshops in recent years. This visit not only strengthened the academic ties between the two universities in the field of architecture but also injected fresh impetus into the sustainable development of the CAMPUS Asia program.
