Tongji University and Università Iuav di Venezia, Italy, established cooperation in 2018 (IUAV, World's First Independent Architecture School, Official Partner of Venice Biennale) jointly provide an International Dual-Degree Master's Program. This program follows a collaborative educational framework, wherein students undertake their first-year studies at their home universities and the second year at the partner institution, with credit recognition. Upon successful program completion, students are conferred degrees by both universities.

Tongji University and University of Venice IUAV signed the agreement on carrying out the dual master degree in urban planning program between two institutions in 2017. In 2021, the development of the dual master program expanded to the department of architecture. The aim of the double master degree program is to cultivate talents with an international perspective and professional capabilities in the fields of architecture and urban planning.

Students in the program not only earn dual degrees but also have the opportunity to study in Italy, where they can be exposed to cutting-edge European architectural concepts and design methods, thereby broadening their global perspectives.

The program provides opportunities for in-depth exchanges between faculty and students of the two universities. Joint research, academic lectures, and workshops are organized to foster the collision of academic ideas and innovation.

The program is an important achievement of educational cooperation between China and Italy. It lays a solid foundation for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of architecture and urban planning, promoting in-depth exchanges in talent cultivation and research collaboration.
