On October 24, 2024, Christopher Loan, Consul (Political, Economic and Public Affairs), Emma Jia, Vice-Consul (Political and Economic Affairs) and Leah Liu, Trade Commissioner from the Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai had an exchange with the representatives of CAUP. The meeting was chaired by Jian Zhuo, Director of the Department of Urban Planning. Yao Cheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Urban Planning, Jijun Li, Chief Engineer and Yuyu Zhu, Director of Spatial Planning from the Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning & Design Institute Co.,Ltd. Xigang Lu, Wei Zhao, Jie Yin and Ze Zhang, faculty members from the Department of Urban planning along with Wei Li, Head of the International Cooperation Office, participated in the meeting.

   Both parties exchanged views on the Three-Year Action Plan for the Integrated Development of the Yangtze River Delta Region, the territorial spatial planning of Yangtze River Delta, and the Shanghai Metropolitan Area planning. They explored possibilities of Canadian industrial and educational resources participating in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. The meeting concluded with a preliminary consensus on further promoting exchanges and collaboration between the two sides.
