On Sept 22nd 2019,CAUP international cooperation office organizes a one day city tour for new coming exchange international students. The tour includes visiting three highlights in Shanghai, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and Power Station of Art. As one part of the orientation program, this trip is planned to help new students discover Shanghai, giving them a taste of Shanghai city, and meanwhile introduce Chinese traditional and contemporary art to those who have never set foot in China before.
Shanghai Museum
As a large museum of ancient Chinese art, the Shanghai Museum boasts a collection of 140,000 precious relics, featuring bronzes, ceramics, paintings and calligraphy. The abundance and quality of the collection have enjoyed a high reputation both at home and abroad.
Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall
One of Shanghai's best and most visited museums; the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall documents the changing face of Shanghai and is an essential vising point for those interested in the evolution of the city. A perfect scale model of the entire city on the 6th floor model shows planned and recent developments of Shanghai. Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall tells people the procedure that Shanghai becomes a famous international city from a small fishing village.

Power Station of Art
Established on Oct. 1st, 2012, the Power Station of Art (PSA) is the first state-run museum dedicated to contemporary art in mainland China. Standing tall by Shanghai’s mother river, the Huangpu River, PSA now occupies an area of 42-thousand square meters. And as Shanghai’s generator for its new urban culture, PSA regards non-stopping innovation and progress as the key to its long-term vitality. The museum has been striving to provide an open platform for the public to learn and appreciate contemporary art, break the barrier between life and art, and promote cooperation and knowledge generation between different schools of art and culture.

After one day trip, students are impressed by how dynamic Shanghai is and amazed by how this city can combine ancient & modern, west and eastern cultures. An international student said: “It is a very enjoyable trip because I could go to various museums and attractive places in Shanghai. Also it was a good opportunity to talk to international students and Chinese students who I have never talked before. Through this event, not only do we learn more, but we also make friends coming from all over the world. There is no doubt that it is a very meaningful day!”
