Introduction:

With the support of Department of InternationalCooperation and Exchanges of Ministry of Education, CAUP (College ofArchitecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University) is sponsoring International Urban Design Symposium(Shanghai):2015 International Symposium on ecological Urban Design in June 2015, to promote urban design as an important pathway toobtain urban sustainable goals.

The International Symposiumon Ecological Urban Design in 2015 focuses on the design of urban metabolism, atheoretical model of sustainable future urban system that is urgently neededfor rapid urbanization processes in China and elsewhere around the world. Thesymposium is organized by the Sino-U.S. Eco Urban Lab, an international urbandesign research platform jointly developed by Tongji University and GeorgiaInstitute of Technology. It gathers scholars, practitioners and policy makersfrom China, the U.S. and other countries to explore cutting-edge theory andprompting issues of ecological urban design, sustainable urban systems, resilient city, healthy city and smart urban infrastructure, as well as urbanspace utilization and urban space operations management.
