Research Positions:

• ZHANG Peng is associate professor in the Department of Architecture. His courses focus on historic preservation technology, design and modern architectural history. ZHANG Peng's research interests include theory, design and techniques of architectural conservation and architecture history. His writings, ranging from conservation design cases including EXPO2010 industrial heritage rehabilitation, to the analysis of the bund space evolution, have appeared in a number of journals including Architecture Journal and Time Architecture. His published his first book Physical Foundations of City Form: A Study on the Relationship between Municipal Construction and Transformation of Urban Space in the International Settlement of Shanghai in 2008. In 2013, he translated the book Contemporary Conservation Theory. He also contributed to the book Material Restoration Guideline of Historic building in 2014.

• ZHANG Peng finished some important research and design projects in conservation including the Conservation Management Guidelines for Traditional Courtyard Houses and Environment in the Ancient City of Pingyao, Restoration of the Ancient City Gate of Danzhou. He got several awards including Holcim Asia-pacific Golden Award in 2005 and UNESCO Asia-pacific award of conservation in 2010.

• ZHANG Peng is the board member of the Historic Building Conservation Committee of the Architectural Society of Shanghai, China.
