Professor John Chunhan Lin

 

John Lin is a Professor of Architecture in the University of Hong Kongtogether with Joshua Bolchover, he established a non-profit organization, Rural Urban Framework, to provide design services to charities and NGOs, RUF has built or is currently engaged in various projects in diverse villages throughout China and Mongolia. His research and design of Rural Urban Framework has been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Design Museum, London and the Canadian Center for Architecture, Montreal. He is the recipient of over 40 international design awards including most recently, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) International Emerging Architect Award and the Ralph Erskine 100 Years Anniversary Award given for innovation in architecture that “primarily benefits the less privileged in society”. His recently published book _As Found Houses_ was awarded the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) President’s Medal for Research 2021.


 

 

Assistant Professor Lidia Ratoi

 

Lidia Ratoi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong, she holds a degree in robotic fabrication from IAAC Barcelona, and is currently coordinating the year 2 undergraduate degree. She works on projects investigating material ecology and sustainability in the realm of robotic fabrication. She is currently a DesignTrust Grantee, for her research project “Impossible Bricks”, which reuses Hong Kong food and construction waste as biomaterials, in pair with robotic fabrication, aiming to deviate the interaction with nature and technology from a human-centric, individualistic one to an empathetic, conscious one.
