Abstract:

Since Shanghai was approved as a national historic cultural city in 1986, Shanghai has taken the lead in carrying out a series of legal regulations in China, and gradually established the protection factor system of “spot – line – surface” and “city – town – village”. In 2020, the newly revised Regulations of Shanghai Municipality on Conserving Historical Areas an Excellent Historical Buildings” put forward the concept of comprehensive conservation, positive revitalization, which promotes the change of management methods. Shanghai aims to become a historic cultural city with distinguished contemporary characteristics while introducing the Shanghai cultural brand and evolving into an Excellent Global City and a City of Humanity by fully digging and protecting the historic and cultural resources. This lecture systematically introduces the history of the course of conserving Shanghai historical areas and excellent historical buildings. Combined with practical cases, this lecture shows the practice of Shanghai's historical landscape protection. At last, this lecture discusses some important topics for the future administration of Shanghai's historical landscape protection.
