Ben Derudder 教授是比利时鲁汶大学公共管理学院终身教授、鲁汶大学城市研究所主任、“全球化与世界城市研究网络(GaWC)”副主任、根特大学和托伦大学客座教授。他长期致力于全球化、全球城市、世界城市网络和多中心城市发展方面的研究，是该研究领城的权威专家，享有极高的学术声誉。Ben Derudder 教授引领了世界城市网络和全球城市的理论构建和实证研究，主持联合国、欧盟、世界银行、弗拉芒不同级别的科研基金20余项，已发表相关论文200余篇、著作7部，总引用超过15000次 (Web of Science全学科领域排名全球前1%）。

SUMMARY：

Paralleling the rise of cities into the key territories shaping the global economy, there have been calls to give cities a seat at the table in global governance. In this lecture, Drawing on a discussion of city-state relations, I put this governance role in historical perspective, after which I discuss some of the major examples of city policy networks and the key arguments in favor of 'translating' cities' economic centrality in governance terms. This is followed by a more critical analysis of whether and how a city-centered world geography can provide the canvas for another world order.
