An all too long lasting period of splendidrestoration endangers our cultural heritage. Mostly reinvented heroic examplesof our antique magnificence follow a more or less nationalistic ideology. Oftenenough such destructive expert work is followed by extremely expensiveprojects. On the other hand the general renovation nowadays has primarilybecome a financial problem. And secondly the brutal adaption to modern buildingstandards is the consequence of a phony building physics created bysemi-scientific institutions which are dependent of the building industry. Amore gentle and economic rehab work needs stringent preliminary inspection,precise planning on base of experimental research, experienced knowledge andmuch audacity.
