Abstract：

The significance of urban sustainability in theAsia has been increasing importance in terms of energy, resource and regionalclimate because of rapid population concentration and development. Somestatistics remark that urban population in Asia will account for more than 60%by 2040 and the energy consumption in the building sector may account for 70%.“Green Building” trend is one of the efficient strategies to enhancesustainability but the problem is that it is based on the western climate andculture totally. Our research unit has been studying on the technology forsustainable urban architecture that reflects regional climate and culture inthis area; energy performance of large scale buildings, characteristics ofhuman factor inside building, testing countermeasure for urban heat island,verification of meteorological data, and so on. Our research activity is mainlysupported by Tokyo Metropolitan Government to enhance the alliance between thecity of Asia and we also accept highly skilled foreign students by thescholarship program. I will introduce our research activity in this lecture toshare and discuss with the audience.
