——建成环境技术中心成立系列活动

论坛主题:

        建筑与结构的融合与分离贯穿了建筑历史的进程,建筑与结构议题既关乎建筑学科的文化语境,也关系到建筑技术的发展方向。

        从文艺复兴开始,建筑与结构的学科分离使建筑师与结构师的角色有了明确区分。建筑师构思形式,而把建造实现的工作留给结构工程师,建筑师与工程师之间建立起一种“后合理化”的合作模式。从文艺复兴到现代主义运动时期,“后合理化”长期作为主流的合作模式影响建筑设计过程。结构在形式设计中长期处于被忽视的状态,往往作为建筑形式的支撑被置于整个设计过程后期。

        在数字时代,随着“性能化设计”理论的发展和数字化建造技术的成熟,结构与形式逐渐超越了此消彼长的二元对立关系,逐步趋向于一体化融合。结构性能化建筑设计方法打破了“后合理化”设计流程中形式、结构和材料之间的层级关系,使得“结构性能”成为建筑形式生成的重要驱动因素。结构性能化设计方法作为建筑师与结构师、结构与形式、设计与建造之间的不可或缺的桥梁,无疑为打破建筑与结构的学科边界、建立全新的协作关系提供了重要契机。

        本次论坛以建筑结构性能化设计为主题,特邀国内外位著名建筑师、结构工程师及学者,共同探讨如何通过建筑与结构的密切合作,实现性能与美学融合的建筑作品。

CorentinFIVET

减材与再用:设计师的重要挑战

CorentinFIVET副教授现任职于瑞士洛桑联邦理工学院(EPFL)的建筑、城市与环境工程学院(ENAC)。他自2016年7月起主持结构探索实验室(SXL)。2016年之前,他在美国麻省理工学院(MIT)的John Ochsendorf教授工作室工作了两年。Corentin教授在比利时鲁汶大学(UCLouvain,Louvain-la-Neuve)取得工程科学的博士学位和建筑工程的硕士学位。

Corentin教授的研究和教学集中探索更加环保的建筑系统。为了融合建筑与结构工程之间的分歧,他致力于开发创新的图形设计工具,使设计师能够将形式和结构整合在一起。Corentin教授还探索建筑材料的可持续性,并挖掘和揭示结构设计的历史经典案例。

透明的结构

1998年同济大学建筑系建筑学学士,2003年东京工业大学研究生院理工学研究科建筑学专攻工学硕士,2003-2004株式会社环境设计研究所,2004-2009华东建筑设计研究院有限公司,2009-2014同济大学建筑与城市规划学院工学博士,2015-东南大学建筑学院建筑系副教授,2016-结构建筑学研究中心主任。


柳亦春

结构为何

大舍建筑设计事务所主持建筑师、创始合伙人。同济大学建筑与城市规划学院和东南大学建筑学院客座教授。

他和合伙人陈屹峰所主持的大舍的作品长期以来一直受到专业领域的持续关注,曾受邀参加法国蓬皮杜中心“当代中国建筑与艺术展”、威尼斯双年展“中国新锐建筑创作展”、米兰三年展等重要的国际性建筑展览,曾受邀在哈佛大学、香港大学、香港中文大学、同济大学、东南大学、法兰西建筑学院、上海当代艺术博物馆等大学或机构做演讲,曾获“远东建筑奖”、由美国《建筑实录》杂志评选的2011年度全球十佳“设计先锋”(Design Vanguard 2011)以及由英国《建筑评论》杂志评选的AR Awards for Emerging Architecture、2015年伦敦设计博物馆年度设计奖提名、2016年中国建筑学会建筑创作奖金奖第一名、2015年福布斯“中国最具影响力设计师”30强等奖项。


孟宪川

材性的计算可视化对设计的影响

孟宪川现任职于南京大学建筑与城市规划学院。在2010年至2011年,他获得国家留学基金在瑞士苏黎世联邦理工学院(ETHZ)建筑学院(Department of Architecture)的Joseph Schwartz教授工作室研习。他在南京大学建筑与城市规划学院取得建筑学硕士学位和博士学院,本科就读于重庆大学土木工程学院。

孟宪川的研究和教学集中于建筑与结构的融合与互动。为探寻建筑设计中涌现的结构需求,他关注基于图解静力学的建筑-结构一体化找形方法,并编写相关的应用。他也讨论在建筑与结构融合进程中发挥积极作用的要素,比如材料与工艺,并研究相关的历史。


朱竞翔

性能:"结构的"还是"建筑的"?

香港中文大学建筑学院教授。

1988年进入东南大学建筑系学习,其后他在东南大学建筑研究所获得硕士与博士学位,期间他也在苏黎世瑞士联邦理工学院(ETHZ)建筑系深造。博士毕业后他曾在东南大学执教,并参与创立南京大学建筑研究所。2004年他加入香港中文大学建筑学院,目前作为全职终身教授专注于研究新型的空间结构、轻型建筑系统和可持续建筑技术。

朱竞翔是首批在国际舞台亮相的中国独立建筑师。而自2008年始,他领导的香港团队发明了六种新型的建筑系统,并成功应用在超过十三个中国内地省份和非洲肯尼亚地区,它们包括慈善学校、自然保护区工作站以及都市办公建筑。这些工作由于示范了非常独特的灾后重建与社会发展途径,朱竞翔成为2012年《华尔街日报》“中国创新人物奖”的得主。2015年尾他赢得香港建造业议会创新奖一等奖。在2016年第十五届威尼斯国际建筑双年展上,朱竞翔教授受邀为中国国家馆设计了户外作品-展厅“斗室”。刚刚揭晓的第四届中国建筑传媒奖上,朱竞翔收获了技术探索奖与青年探索入围奖。

StructuralPerformance-based Architecture Design Forum

Forum Topic:

The integration and separation ofarchitecture and structure runs through the development of architecturalhistory. The architectural and structural issues are closely related to thecultural context of architecture and the development direction of constructiontechnology.

From the beginning of the Renaissance, theseparation of architecture and structure has clearly distinguished the role ofarchitects and architects. Architects conceive the morphology, while theconstruction work is left to the structural engineers, which establishes a"post-rationalization" of the cooperation model between architectsand engineers. From the period of the Renaissance to the Modernist Movement,"post-rationalization" has long influenced the architectural designprocess as a mainstream mode of cooperation. The structure is always neglectedin the form of design, but only supported for the architectural form throughoutthe later of design process.

During the digital age, with thedevelopment of "performance-oriented design" theory and the maturityof digital construction technology, the structure and form gradually surpassedthe binary opposition relationship, and gradually tend to integration. Thearchitectural design method based on the structural performance has broken thehierarchical relationship between the form, structure and material in thepost-rationalization design process, making the "structuralperformance" an important driving factor in the generative process ofbuilding form. As an indispensable bridge between architects and structuralengineers, structure and form, design and construction, this structural performancedesign method is undoubtedly creating an important opportunity to break the boundariesbetween architecture and structure and establishing a new collaborativerelationship.

The theme of this forum is structural performance-basedarchitectural design.Several famous domestic and international architects,structural engineers and scholars are invited to discuss how to achieve theintegration of performance and aesthetics through the close cooperation betweenarchitecture and structure.

CorentinFIVET

Reduce& Reuse, Critical Challenges for Designers

Corentin FIVET is Assistant Professorof Architecture and Structural Design in the School of Architecture, Civil andEnvironmental Engineering (ENAC) at EPFL, Switzerland. He is heading theStructural Xploration Lab (SXL) since its inception in July 2016. Prior to2016, Corentin worked for two years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technologywith Prof. John Ochsendorf. Corentin holds a master in ArchitecturalEngineering and a PhD in Engineering Sciences from the UCLouvain,Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.

Corentin's research and teaching aredriven by the need for more environmentally responsible building systems.Bridging the gap between architecture and structural engineering, he mainlyfocuses on the development of innovative graphical tools that allow designersto shape forms and forces together. Corentin also explores more sustainableimplementations of building materials and brings to light historical exemplarypractices of structural design.

Xianchuan MENG

Computable Visibility of Material Behavior for Design

Xianchuan MENG is an assistantresearcher in School of Architecture and Urban Planning in Nanjing University.He visited and studied in the Chair of Prof. Joseph Schwartz in the Departmentof Architecture in Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich(ETHZ)with the statescholarship of CSC from 2010 to 2011. Xianchuan MENG holds the master degree andPhD in architectural design and theory from Nanjing University, and bachelordegree in civil engineering from Chongqing University.

Xianchuan MENG’s research and teaching payattention on the integration of architecture and structure. To explore thestructural requirements during architectural design process, he mainly focuseson the form-finding method with graph statics and the development of graphicalapplication. He also discusses issues that could positively change the relationbetween architecture and structure, such as materials and crafts, and theirhistories.

 

JingxiangZHU

Performance – “Structural” or “Architecutral”?

Prof. Jingxiang ZHU received hiseducation in Southeast university and Swiss Federal Institute of TechnologyZurich. Before joined CUHK in 2004, He taught in Southeast University andNanjing University. In 2004 he joined the School of Architecture, ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong, currently working as a full-time tenured professorfocused on research of new spatial structure, lightweight building systems andsustainable building technologies.

He was among the first group ofmainland Chinese independent architect exposed on the international circle.Since 2008, he led a Hong Kong team and invented 6 innovative prefablightweight building systems, and applied them in quake areas and developingareas, covering 13 mainland provinces in China plus Kenya. These works helpedhimwon 2012 China Innovator of the Year Award in architecture from The WallStreet Journal, and First Prize of Hong Kong Construction Council Innovationaward in 2015 . During 2016 15th International Architecture Exhibition (LaBiennale di Venezia ), Professor Jingxiang ZHU was invited designing “DOUPavilion” for  China National Pavilion.In the recently-announced fourth China Architecture Media Award, Jingxiang ZHUharvested Technique Exploration Award and Youth Explorer Finalist Award.
