New Khmer Architecture—Analysis of the Golden Age of Sihanouk in Cambodia and the Chief Architect Vann Molyvann’s Works

      凡•莫利万（1926-2017）20世纪50年代毕业于国立法国高等美术学院，曾任柬埔寨国家建筑首席建筑师（1956-1962）、国家公共工程局主任（1962-1964）、皇家美术学院创始校长和高棉古迹督察官（1967-1969），是新高棉建筑的领军人物，2013年莫万利荣获亚洲文化奖。谨以此讲座纪念刚刚离世的建筑师莫利万。

      本讲座通过文献挖掘、大师访谈与现场测绘对莫利万主要作品进行了研究。指出新高棉建筑诞生在特殊的气候条件及国际援助背景之下，建筑大师天才的创造和追求国家独立的可识别性紧密结合，是亚洲跻身现代建筑洪流的组成部分。

GEANERAL INTRODUCTION

Vann Molyvann (1926-2017) graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in the 1950s; he served as the chief architect of Cambodian national building (1956-1962), director of the State Department of Public Works (1962-1964), founding president of the Academy of Fine Arts and inspector of Royal Khmer Monuments (1967-1969). He is a leading figure in the field of the New Khmer architecture; won Nikkei Asia Prize in 2013. This lecture is dedicated to the memory of Architect Vann Molyvann.

Basing on the chief architect Vann Moylan’s works in Cambodia during the period of Sihanouk (1953-1970), through archives, interviews, field surveying and mapping, it points out that the New Khmer Architecture led by Vann Molyvann was born in a wide range of international aid and special topography. The master’s creativity is closely related to the identity of national independence. It is a trickle of modernism architecture in Asia.
