2019年6月24日至7月6日，同济大学建筑与城市规划学院举办了 “2019未来城市与建筑国际博士生院”（以下简称国际博士生院）。这是继2016-2018年三届成功举办后，学院组织开展的第四届国际博士生院教学活动。本活动旨在提升博士生培养的质量、开拓博士生的学术视野、强化博士生的研究能力、促进博士生教学的国际化水平、完善博士培养体系的建构。

The International Doctoral School of Future City and Architecture, organized by CAUP of Tongji University, is held on June 24 --July 6, 2019. This is the fourth International Doctoral School organized by the college after the success of the last three sessions in 2016-2018. The purpose of this activity is to improve the quality of doctoral students' education, to develop the academic vision of doctoral students, to strengthen the research ability of doctoral students, to promote the internationalization level of doctoral students' teaching, and to optimize the construction of doctoral training systems. 

本届国际博士生院经过精心设计，延续了往届教学活动的成功经验，在组织构架上由“研究方法工作营”和“学术报告”两个部分组成。这一构架设置有着明确的目标：一方面为博士研究生提供针对研究思路和研究方法的短期高强度训练，尤其是针对交叉学科或跨学科研究方法的训练；另一方面，广泛邀请国内外知名专家学者，通过各种形式的讲座和论坛，向学员传递建筑、规划、景观等方向学术研究的前沿动态和创新视野。

The International Doctoral School is composed of two parts, a workshop focusing on research proposal and method training, and a lecture series introducing research frontiers. This framework has clear goals: on one hand, to provide doctoral students with short-term high-intensity training for research proposals and research methods, especially for interdisciplinary research methods; on the other hand, famous experts at home and abroad are widely invited to convey the frontiers and innovative vision of academic research in the fields of architecture, urban planning and landscape through various forms of lectures and forums. 

参加本届国际博士生院的学员总共107名，其中国际博士生10名，分别来自美国伊利诺伊理工大学（Illinois Institute of Technology）、意大利威尼斯建筑大学（Università Iuav di Venezia）、韩国国立釜山大学（Pusan National University）、意大利罗马大学（Sapienza University of Rome）、德国柏林工业大学（Technische Universität Berlin）、奥地利维也纳理工大学（Technische Universität Wien）、意大利卡塔尼亚大学（University of Catania）、法国里昂大学和加拿大蒙特利尔大学联合项目（University of Lyon & University of Montreal Joint Program）和美国弗吉尼亚理工学院暨州立大学（Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University）等国际知名院校；国内院校博士生30名，来自北京工业大学、北京建筑大学、北京林业大学、重庆大学、东南大学、哈尔滨工业大学、河南农业大学、华南理工大学、昆明理工大学、南京大学、清华大学、山东建筑大学、深圳大学、沈阳建筑大学、天津大学、武汉大学、西安建筑科技大学、西南交通大学、西南林业大学 、香港城市大学、浙江大学、中央美术学院等；以及同济本校博士生67名。

There are 107 students participating this International Doctoral School, including 10 international PhD students from Illinois Institute of Technology, Università Iuav di Venezia, Pusan National University, Sapienza University of Rome, Technische Universität Berlin, Technische Universität Wien, University of Catania, University of Lyon & University of Montreal Joint Program, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and 30 PhD students from domestic universities like Beijing University of Technology, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Beijing Forestry University, Chongqing University, Southeast University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Henan Agricultural University, South China University of Technology, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University, Tsinghua University, Shandong Jianzhu University, Shenzhen University, Shenyang Jianzhu University, Tianjin University, Wuhan University, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, Southwest Forestry University, City University of Hong Kong, Zhejiang University, Central Academy of Fine Arts. Also, there are 67 PhD students of Tongji University participating. 

6月24日开幕式盛况，李振宇院长致辞

在“研究方法论研讨会”上，主持人刘刊老师介绍了本次研究方法工作营的内容安排与训练目标，朱介明老师、谭峥老师、陈筝老师等分别从不同角度讲解了城市研究的视角和方法。

At the forum on research methodology, the host, Dr. Liu Kan introduced the content arrangement and training objectives of the research methodology workshop. Zhu Jieming, Tan Zheng and Chen Zheng explained the different methods of urban research from different perspectives. 

研究方法工作营是本次“未来城市与建筑”国际博士生院的重要组成部分。工作营主要训练的内容围绕论文选题、研究方法与研究计划的制定而展开，要求博士生学员在指导老师的带领和引导下，分四天访问与考察四类特定的上海城市空间：历史空间、垂直空间、滨水空间和郊区空间，并选取其中一类城市空间作为拟定的研究对象，寻找特定的研究问题，运用交叉学科的研究视角和研究方法，基于已有的研究文献，提出合理的研究计划，并假设可能的研究结论。

This workshop offers the PhD. students intensified training on how to develop thesis proposals, using proper research methods and making clear and feasible research plans. The participants, divided into groups led by tutors, has visited and investigated four types of specific Shanghai urban spaces (Historical Space, Vertical Space, Waterfront Space and Suburban Space) one by one within four days, and are required to select one type of urban space as presumed research object for extended study. Each group of students collaborate to search for the reasonable research questions, applying interdisciplinary perspectives and methods, preparing the literature review, and proposing a systematic research plan as well as drawing a possible research conclusion.

历史空间的调研对象是上生新所。带着一系列问题，指导老师带营员们着重参观了上生新所，以及场地周边的幸福里改造项目、新华路历史建筑区。了解了不同历史街区的现存状况与更新方式。不同保护更新模式的现状让同学们认识到历史建筑在未来发展中的多种可能，并进一步激发新的保护更新的理念与方法，让历史建成环境在未来发展中绽放新的光芒。

The research object of the Historical Space is Columbia Circle. With a series of questions, tutors led the recruit students to Columbia Circle, and the Happy Lane renovation project, historical building area of Xinhua Road nearby. Students learned about the existing conditions and renovation methods of different historical districts. The status of different models allows students to recognize the many possibilities of historical buildings in the future development, and further stimulate new protection and development models to revive the historical space in the future.

历史空间小组调研上生新所

垂直空间的调研选择KPF建筑事务所以及周边相关超高层建筑。首先，同学们进入KPF事务所内，了解KPF在国内外各地建设的超高层建筑，如新加坡交易中心、上海环球金融中心等，并与主创设计师进行深入交流。而后，在设计师的带领下，同学们依次对位于周边的超高层建筑进行调研，如新天地商业中心、湖滨道购物中心等。与KPF事务所的交流，让同学们领略到垂直城市的建筑学理念，以及世界先进的超高层建筑的魅力，是一次非常有趣、有意义的体验。

The research of the vertical space started from the KPF and some high-rises nearby its office. The students firstly learned about the high-rises designed by KPF, both at home and abroad, such as Singapore Trading Center and Shanghai World Financial Center. Also, the students have a depth communication with designers in the KPF. Under the guidance of the designers, students, in turn, visited high-rises located in the surrounding. The one-day trip in the KPF helped the students to understand the vertical space concept which is a very interesting and rare experience.

垂直空间小组调研KPF建筑事务所

滨水空间的调研围绕苏州河自古北路段起至中环路路段展开，几位指导老师带领同学们通过沿河岸行走体验了苏州河段滨水空间。在此期间，重点考察了苏州河工业文明展示馆，探寻苏州河历史文化的发展。同时，在沿河的行走中，重点关注沿河的公共空间，滨河景观，地标，沿河建筑立面，业态，用地性质等。在整个调研过程中，同学们逐渐发现苏州河沿岸的滨水空间问题，并且对苏州河两岸作为我国近代以来传统工业文明缩影的角色有进一步的认知。

The research of the waterfront space started from the Gubei Street to Middle Loop section of Suzhou Creek. Instructors and students in waterfront session approached their research by walking along the Suzhou Creek. They explored the history and civilization revolution in the Suzhou Creek Industrial Civilization Hall. Meanwhile, the team focused on keywords of waterfront space including public space, waterfront landscape, landmarks, building facade, programming, land use, etc. And they gradually found the issues along the Suzhou Creek during the city walk. Moreover, students realized the pivotal role of Suzhou Creek as the epitome of traditional industrial civilization in modern China.

滨水空间小组调研苏州河

郊区空间调研主要针对上海本世纪初“一城九镇”政策中郊区小城镇进行调研，指导老师带营员们参观了安亭新镇、嘉定老城、嘉定新城及朱家角镇。在安亭新镇主要参观了中德设计模式的异同，安亭新镇公共空间及社区服务设施等，并参观朱家角镇作为对比案例；在嘉定参观了保利大剧院、嘉定图书馆、博物馆等。课题关注安亭新镇在新城政策市场变化下的规划及实施评估，探讨规划后的公共设施使用、社区日常活力及居民认同感。

The research of the suburban space mainly focused on small towns in suburban Shanghai, under the policy of “one city and nine towns” in the 2001. Tutors led the recruit students to Anting New Town, Jiading Old Town, Jiading New City and Zhujiajiao Town. Students investigated the similarities and differences of architectural design patterns in China and German, and observed the public space, amenities and community services here. After that, students visited the Poly Theatre, Jiading Library and Jiading Museum for a better understanding of the surrounding context. The project focused on the evaluation of planning, design and implementation under the policy and changes in Anting New Town, and concentrated on the use of public facilities, the community vitality and the sense of identity of the residents.

郊区空间小组调研嘉定博物馆

在一天的城市空间考察和四场主题性城市空间研究论坛后，学员与老师根据研究内容分四组进行了中期汇报与讨论。学员们根据挑选的城市空间类型（历史、垂直、滨水和郊区），提出可能的研究方向，与负责该类城市空间的导师讨论，初步确定了研究问题和研究框架。 

 After four days of urban space survey, the mid-term presentation is held in the afternoon of July 10 and the students and tutors are divided into four groups according to the research content. Each group are required to confirm their research object, proposing the possible research directions, and developing the proposal with the aid of tutors, thus initially framing the research question and structure. 

在研究方法工作营进行的第二周，博士生院还安排了“矶崎新系列讲座”和两场城市空间研究论坛，为学员准备了丰盛的学术盛筵。 

The International Doctoral School provides various forms of lectures for the participants in the second week. “The lecture series by Arata Isozaki” is a great opportunity for students to comprehensively understand the broad academic vision of this important Japanese modern master on architectural and urban issues. In addition, there were also two more urban study forums in which have invited many experts as well.

 7月5日是整个国际博士生院最后一天的终期成果汇报会，分为两个会场，各小组学员以PPT的形式在限定的时间内全程英文向特邀评委汇报最终的研究方案。

The final presentation is held on July 13th, at the end of the whole program. The participants are required to present the whole package of the research proposal in a PPT format to the Jury within a limited period of time. The invited Jury included Prof. CAI Yongjie-Head of Architecture Department of Tongji University, Prof. Plácido González- Executive Editor of Built Heritage, Prof. HUA Xiahong from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University, Iris Belle-Assistant Professor from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University.

在闭幕式上，学院院长李振宇教授出席并致辞，高度赞扬了学员的表现，并祝国际博士生院在未来越办越好。他与特邀评委代表院方分别给这十天以来辛劳工作的导师和学员颁发结业证书，并为在成果汇报中获得优胜的四个小组颁奖。闭幕式结束后，全体师生在C楼入口前拍摄了大合照，共同庆祝2019未来城市与建筑国际博士生院圆满落幕！ 

At the closing ceremony, the invited judges presented the certificates to the tutors and trainees who worked hard for the past ten days, and presented the awards to the four groups that won the results report. After the closing ceremony, all the teachers and students took a group photo in front of the entrance to the C building.
