第15届同济大学CAUP国际设计夏令营招募通知

2019 TONGJI CAUP SUMMER SCHOOL NOTICE

一、背景 BACKGROUND

同济CAUP国际设计暑期夏令营由同济大学建筑与城市规划学院主办，已经持续举行14届，深受国内外建筑及设计类院校大学生的欢迎，具有较高的国际知名度。2019年夏天，同济大学建筑与城市规划学院将再次举办为期2周的国际设计暑期夏令营，探讨并形成有思考、有创造性的概念设计，国际设计暑期学校的设计成果将进行展览、评奖，并择机出版专辑。

Tongji International Design Summer School has been organized by CAUP (College of Architecture and Urban Planning) in Shanghai since 2005. This two-week urban design workshop has gained international reputation as a distinguished platform for international students to meet and communicate to each other, and is widely accepted and highly recognized by both domestic and worldwide renowned universities. The 2019 CAUP Summer School is now open to the students for application domestically and aboard. During the two-week period, a “Chinese cultural tour” in weekend is planned for students to enhance the interests and understanding on Chinese traditional culture. The final works will be criticized by invited international jurors, and exhibited, published as well. The three most prominent ones will be awarded.

二．2019夏令营主题 THEME

上海南站：城市生活网络的连接与再生

South Station：Reconnecting and Revitalizing the Network of Urban Life

在近20多年的大规模城市建设与发展进程中，上海的城市空间始终处在剧烈的变革与转型之中。城市持续向外扩张，原有的城区内部也由于新功能的植入而在不断进行着调整。特别是一些大型基础设施项目的建设，在为城市的功能的转型与提升做出重要贡献的同时，也给城市原有的生活环境带来新的挑战。

上海南站位于徐汇区中部地区，周边大多为建于上世纪九十年代的居住生活区。自2006年建成运行以来，南站成为连接上海与杭州及其它城市的重要交通枢纽。但由于其庞大的建筑体量，以及用于交通组织的道路系统，不仅使之与周围城市地区产生隔离，而且也对当地的生活环境带来了较多负面性的影响。

近年来，随着另一个大型交通枢纽上海虹桥交通枢纽投入运行，上海南站在对外交通方面的地位有所下降，其职能定位面临着新的调整。借助于这一契机，如何通过针对城市功能的梳理与反思，立足城市空间的优化与提升，使得上海南站既作为一个城市对外联系的重要节点，同时也成为城市内在生活的活力焦点，将成为一道重要命题。这需要通过富有远见的观察与分析，重新思考大型火车站的功能组织及其与城市环境的关系；通过富有创意的设计与构想，重新连接和融合原先断裂的城市生活空间，从而有效提升上海南站及其附属功能对于周边环境的潜在价值，通过多维度、多层面的有效链接，为当地的城市生活脉络带来新的契机。

同济大学建筑与城市规划学院举办的2019年国际设计夏令营，将主要以上海南站及其周边地区为研究对象，探讨如何通过富有创意的城市设计，发挥大型城市项目的潜能，修补现有城市环境中的缺陷，改善城市空间、提升城市品质、激发街区活力，形成与城市发展相适应的公共空间网络，促进上海南站地区的社会繁荣和空间活力，推动可持续性的城市发展。

During the past two decades, large scale urban development has triggered a continuing structural reformation and transformation for Shanghai. While the city expanded greatly, the traditional areas were also located with new functions, which is always adjusting itself to accommodate these changes. Some large-scale civic projects have greatly contributed to the city’s functional transformation and upgrading process. However, new developments also brought challenges to the city’s living environment.

Shanghai South Railway Station (SSRS) is located in the central area of Xuhui District where most of the developments are residentials from the 1990s. Built in 2006, SSRS became a significant hub connecting Shanghai and Hangzhou and other cities. However, because of its massive scale, and its automobile-only road system, the station is not only separated with its surrounding area but also introduced negative impacts on the local living environment

Recently, another large-scale transportation hub, Shanghai Hongqiao Transportation Hub was put in operation. Accordingly, SSRS’s position in Shanghai’s external transport has declined. The station has to seek a new position and new adjustments. And yet, it is an opportunity to think about the critical question: how to make SSRS a node for the city’s outbound connections as well as a focus of Shanghai locals’ daily lives, through reflecting and re-organizing the city’s functions, with a long-term goal of optimizing and enhancing urban space. To answer this question, we have to rethink large-scale station’s functional organizations and its relationship with the surroundings with keen observations and insightful analysis. At the same time, we have to relink and merge the broken urban living space with creative design. Only in this way can we efficiently enhance the potential value of SSRS and its associated functions to the surrounding area. Multi-dimensional and multi-faceted connections will bring new opportunities to local urban life.

The 2019 TONGJI CAUP International Design Summer School will choose SSRS and its surrounding as the targeted study area. The main propose of this workshop is to discuss how to explore the full potential of a large-scale civic project, amend the defects of the urban environment, improve the quality of urban space and rejuvenate existing neighborhoods, through creative urban design. The workshop seeks to establish a public space network that can be compatible with the city’s future development, promote sustainable urban development, and introduce prosperity and vitality to the community of SSRS area.

三．征集方式 INVITATION AND APPLICATION

本次暑期学校将延续以往惯例，全球公开征集与特邀相结合。所邀请的院校为全球国家和区域顶尖的建筑规划设计类院校。主办方同济大学5名，其他每个学校邀请1~3名学生，计划邀请国内、国外院校学生各15名左右。建筑、规划、景观等相关专业研究生均可报名。参加学生必须用英语交流。

2019 CAUP Summer School plans to invite 30 master students of architecture, urban planning or design backgrounds, 15 from China and 15 aboard. Together with 5 students from CAUP, 35 participants will be divided into 5 groups. English is working language. In order to guarantee the world class quality of Summer School, a jury committee would examine the application material of each candidate.

报名入选：报名者将择优入选，由专家组裁定入选资格

四. 食宿及交通费用 ACCOMODATION AND TRAVEL EXPENSE

组委会向受邀请学生及特邀指导老师提供在沪免费食宿（2019年8月12日-8月24日/13天），各国家、地区来回中国上海的旅费自负。

The organization committee covers local accommodation costs including hotels, travel, food and design related of invited students and advisers during the workshop, while the travel expense for the round trip should be covered by themselves.

30-35名国际、国内学生分成5个组，每个组5张A1设计版面和PPT汇报文件

30-35 students would be divided into 5 groups. Each group should complete 5 A1 Panel design drawings and PPT slides.
